DCS celebrating Independence spirit organised Special tournaments on 10th and 17th August 2008. The results and the final standings are given here.
10th August 2008
DCS Premier League:
The 5 round swiss league comprising 16 prominent players including 5 FIDE rated players and 2 FIDE Rated elects was won convincingly by Kaushik R of Canara College with 4.5 points. His college mate Ganesh Kumar bagged 2nd with 4 points. Unrated Chrisel Pais sprung a surprise by defeating State Under 13 Girls Champion and FIDE rated Vanessa D'souza and also holding Ganesh Kumar for draw. With 3.5 points to her credit, Chrisel won 3rd place. She was also awarded Best Unrated player and Best Girl player of the event. Halfway of the event, Monsoon Champion Sharath Gore of SDM College had led the tables with 3 points in 3 rounds. Both top two winners toppled him to bag the honours.
DCS General League : 6 round Swiss League was organised for 50 players field.

DCS Premier League:
The 5 round swiss league among the 16 prominent players was won by Ganesh Kumar of Canara College with unbeaten 4 points. Although, there was a tie between Prakash V Rao and Ganesh Kumar both with 4 points and 13 progressive points, better cut progressive score helped Ganesh to clinch the title. Prakash V rao had to be content for the 2nd place. Defending winner Kaushik scored 3.5 points to secure 3rd place. Adithya pai of St Theresa's was awarded 'Best Under 10 player' and Suraj Prabhu of Canara High School was awarded 'Best Under 15 player'. Bhargavi of St Agnes won 'Best Girl Player" prize.
DCS General League : The general Leagues were separately organised for Under 10 and Under 15 categories.
