Sharan Rao wins State Under 7 Chess Title


Derik's Chess School student Master Sharan Rao has won the title in the Karnataka State Under 7 Chess Championship organised at State Youth centre, Bangalore by United Karnataka Chess Association from 24th to 26th August 2007.
He scored 5 points in 6 rounds to bag the honour. He was declared winner with a round to go after 5 rounds irrespective last round result. Both dcs talents- Sharan rao and Rahul Peter led the table till 5th round. Unfortunate Rahul lost in the last 2 rounds and had to be content for 6th place.
The 7 year old prodigy Sharan Rao will represent Karnataka in the forthcoming Under 7 National Chess Championship to be held at Lucknow from Octobet 29th. Sharan Rao is studying in 2nd standard in St. Theresa English Convent School and is son of Sri. Shubhaananda Rao and Smt. Jyothi Rao.
It can be recalled that the same title was won by Master Anantharam R U of Derik's Chess School last year. Dakshina Kannada district has retained this title for consecutive 3rd year (2005- Shabdik Varma, 2006- Anantharam R U & 2007- Sharan rao).
