India 'A' team comprising of Adith Jagadish (Mangalore, student of DCS), Abhimanyu Puranik (Mumbai), Ivana Furtado (Goa), Sweetie Patel (Gujrath), Meghana C H (Kochi, Ker) and Savtik M (Bangalore) has won the Team title amidst the strong competetion by Russia and Columbia.in the 3rd World School Chess Championship 2007 organised at Halkidiki, Greece from 27th April to 5th May.
Active participation by Russia, UK and many countries which did not take part in the World Youth Championship 2006 in Georgea made this event very strong and tougher one.
Derik's Chess School prodigy Adith Jagadish scored 6.5 points in 9 rounds and was placed 6th in Under 13 Open category. Nikologorskiy Konstantin of Russia has won the title in his category with 7 points. Adith was in a 6 way tie for 3rd place. But his progressive points could reach him only till 6th. Earlier in 2006 he had secured 5th position in Under 13 in Asian School Chess Championship at Singapore.
Another DCS player Nihal Manjunath in the same category scored 5 points in 9 rounds and was placed 28th.
Adith, Nihal were accompanied by their coach Prasanna Rao, Administrator Derik's Chess School.
Adith is studying in Lourdes Central School, Mangalore; he is son of Jagadeesh Boloor and Bharathi Jagadeesh.
