DCS players shine in 'Sangli Chess Festival 2007'

DCS players have won laurels at National Level 'Sangli Chess Festival 2007' oraginised by Nuthan Buddi Mandal, Sangli during May. 9 year old Shabdik Varma of SDM English Primary School, Ujire scored 7 points in 8 rounds in ' LATE SOU. LEELABAI R. DESHPANDE Chess Tournament' for Under 10 category and was placed 2nd on progressive though he was joint 1st. 8 year old Anantharama R U of Sharada Vidyalaya, Mangalore scored 6.5 points in the same category and was placed 3rd.

Shabdik Varma's feat is the best perforamnce by a D.K Junior player in the National level Open event in the curent year. "I am very happy that Shabdik was able to regain his form in these tournaments here" opined his father and personal coach R V Bunnu.

Anantharam R U bagged another prize in the fest by scoring 6.5 points in 8 rounds in
LATE TAMMANNACHARYA PADSALGIKAR Chess Tournament for Under 8 Category. He was placed 3rd.

12 year old Vanessa D'souza of St Agnes English School, Mangalore also bagged two prizes in the festival. She scored 6.5 points in rounds in LATE DR. T.D. HATHIRAM Chess Tournament for Under 14 category. She won 3rd place. She continued her good run as she scored 6 points in 8 rounds in the LATE ABASAHEB GANU Chess Tournament for Under 12 Category and was placed 4th.

Sangli Chess Festival is a National Level Chess event which attracts strong players from across the nation. Nuthan Buddi Mandal is organising this festival since 1979.
